The RMS rating is determined but what the amplifiers, or CD players can produces and speakers and subwoofers can handle continuously under normal everyday use. I believe that the RMS rating is the most important when looking at any car stereo equipment, because it tell you what you can expect consistently from your equipment. The higher the RMS rating the cleaner and louder the sounds will be.

The Peak power rating is what the amplifier and CD player can produce and the speaker and subwoofers can handle during short burst of music. You can not and expect your car audio equipment to handle this kind of stress and power at all times.

Be careful when look at ratings on equipment, all most of the time, it is listed in peak power and keep that in mind when pairing amps to speakers and subwoofers.

There is a couple of things to keep in mind when running your power cable for your car audio system. The first thing is to get the correct size and length. There is nothing worse then coming up a few inches sort when doing this. Remember if it is a too long all you have to do is cut it, if it is too sort you have to start all over and have wasted your money on the sort power cable.

Now lets say that you know the correct length to buy, the next thing you need to do is figure out what size you are going to need to get. This will depend on the number and power of the amplifiers the vehicle is going to have and the distance the power cable must travel. The way we going to make this easy is running one power cable for all of the amps so you don’t have to buy or run multiple cables. Now here are a couple of things you are going to want to do to avoid big problems latter. I advice to get a circuit breaker not a fuse. There is nothing worse than not having a spare fuse when you need it. The other thing is a must. Run the power cable through the firewall, I have seen 2 car fires from people by passing this step and trying to go through the door jam. Now you will probably have to use a larger hole to do this. Make sure you drill the hole large enough to support a rubber grommet to protect the power cable.

The next set will be probably be easier without the seats in the vehicle. You are going to want to run the power cable down the center of the car. Once you have the cable to the location of the amps you are going to use a distribution block to split the larger power cable into the size and amount of smaller power cables to power the car amplifiers. When connecting the power cable to the battery i do recommend using gold plated battery terminals.

I hope this helps you the next time you are running power cable this post will help you prevent many problems that i have seen others have when doing it other ways.

I have dome many different SPL competitions and seen a lot of people not using this CD or another as good as it, so i decided to right this post. There is nothing worse than watching a competitor not win a competition he should have won because he did not use the best CD for his or her car audio system.

Bass Mekanik’s Sonic Overload has a lot of good track to use for SPL competition. The ever popular sine wave seems to be used by most people in SPL competition. This track play a wave 20khz to 20hz drop. If you are not very serious about competing this is probably the best way to go. If you are serious about competing the best thing to do is get a decibel meter and use the later tracks on the Bass Mekanik CD that have a 10hz drop. This way you can find the best frequency for your system.
