JBL GT5-10 Subwoofer Review

The JBL GT5 10 inch single voice coil subwoofer is a really nice in my opinion.  The sub has a very nice look to it and has 2 large magnets that are covered buy a rubber ring .  The GT5-10 offers great sound quality as always expected out of JBL subwoofers.  This sub has a peak power handling of 1100W.  Remember the difference between peak and RMS handling., because the RMS is only 275W.  Keep in mind when wiring this subwoofer this it has a impedance of 4 ohms.  The mounting depth is 5-5/16 inches.   MSRP is $119.99.  The JBL GT5-10D is the dual voice coil version of this subwoofer.

MTX Square Subwoofers

MTX Square SubwoofersSo it looks like Kicker and Hifonics may have some competition when it comes to square car subwoofers. MTX has announced the new TS55 and TS75 series square subs at the last CES. People that were at the CES have said these subwoofers hit very hard. MTX does claim that they has fixed the major problem with square subs, buckling at the corners. MTX has a patented new design “that eliminates surround corner overextension thus increasing linear excursions and overall output.” The TS55 and TS75 both come in a 10″ and 12″ sizes and you have the choice of dual 2 ohm and 4 ohm setup. I will have more information about these MTX subwoofers as soon as it is available.

Infinity Kappa Perfect 10DVQ Review

10dvq.jpgToday I decided to write another car subwoofer review and I decided to do it on the Infinity Kappa Perfect 10DVQ. The Infinity Kappa Perfect 10DVQ is another great work of engineering by Infinity. I know every one is not huge fan of Infinity but I really like their work.

Rockford Fosgate Power Stage 1 T115D4 Review

Rockford Fosgate Power Stage 1 T115D4Rockford Fosgate Power Stage 1 T115D4 car subwoofer review. The new Power Stage 1 T115D4 is just a beast of a 15″ subwoofer. A lot of people have been asking for reviews of Rockford Fosgate and I decided that the Rockford Fosgate Power Stage 1 T115D4 would be a great start. This sub slams, very hard. A lot of reviews that I have read online agree as well.

Subwoofer Information For Beginners

Car Subwoofers, or Subs, is where the fun starts, but again you may need different type of subwoofer drivers depending on SPL vs SQ. You will also have to keep in mind the air space required per subwoofer, watts, RMS and peak, and size. Subwoofers also come in more than one shape now. You have round, square and triangle subs to choose from. Subwoofers also come in 2, 4 and 8 ohms with both single and dual voice coils. Other things to know and understand when buying a subwoofer is listed below. You can also read the car audio blog to get my reviews of all different types of car audio equipment including car subwoofer reviews.

Eclipse SW8200 Subwoofer Review

Eclipse SW8200I normally don’t buy 4 ohm subwoofers, but the Eclipse SW8200 are very nice and have a great sound and a lot hard punch than his little brother, the Eclipse SW7200. There are not many things that you have to keep in mind with buy 4 ohms subwoofers instead of 2 ohms. Normally the 4 ohms subs can’t handle as much power as the 2 ohms, and they have to be wired differently to get the desired ohm load. Enough on me rambling about 4 vs. 2 ohm load.
