New JL Audio XD Amplifiers

JL Audio has released their new car audio amplifiers for 2010. The new series is called XD Amplifiers. They will be available in 3 different sizes. XD600/1 a single channel mono subwoofer amp. XD400/4, a full range, class D, 2/3/4 channel amp. XD600/6, this is the all in one amp, full range, class D, 3/4/5/6. The main idea behind these amps is more power, less space and lower cost. This will make the new XD series much more desirable than last years HD models. They started to be available in march 2010 and all will be available by mid-year.

XD600/1
Class D Monoblock Subwoofer Amplifier
A huge 600W wallop from an amazingly tiny amplifier:
8.52 x 7.09 x 2.05 in. (217 x 180 x 52 mm)
33% Smaller than the HD750/1 (see photo above) and 61% smaller than a 500/1v2!

1 x 600W @ 2 ohms
1 x 500W @ 3 ohms
1 x 400W @ 4 ohms

XD400/4
Full-Range, Class D 2/3/4 Channel Amplifier
Ridiculously flexible and fits nearly anywhere:
8.52 x 7.09 x 2.05 in. (217 x 180 x 52 mm)
33% Smaller than the HD600/4 and 61% smaller than a 300/4v2!

4 x 100W @ 2 ohms per ch., 4 x 75W @ 4 ohms per ch.
(2 x 200W @ 4 ohms bridged, 2 x 150W @ 8 ohms bridged)

XD600/6
Full-Range, Class D 3/4/5/6 Channel Amplifier
This one has more uses than duct tape! Deploy as a six-channel, staggered four-channel, five-channel or even as a three-channel amp:
10.23 x 7.09 x 2.05 in. (260 x 180 x 52 mm)
65% smaller than a G6600 (and just as powerful)!

6 x 100W @ 2 ohms per ch., 6 x 75W @ 4 ohms per ch.
(3 x 200W @ 4 ohms bridged, 3 x 150W @ 8 ohms bridged)

All Power Ratings @ 14.4V with less than 1% THD+N

Build The Best Fiberglass Enclosure Competition At Car Audio Mag

Car audio magazine is having a contest to see who can build the best fiberglass enclosure. “Does Your Box Rock” is giving away over $3,500 in prize money out. This completion is not going to be easy, they have a lot of rules and guide lines in order to qualify for the prize money. They want the box to be a “universal fiberglass enclosure whose overall dimensions must fit inside most mid-size trunks and SUVs.” or a box specific to the vehicles listed below. If any of you do enter the contest please let me know, I would love to see the pictures.

MTX Square Subwoofers

So it looks like Kicker and Hifonics may have some competition when it comes to square car subwoofers. MTX has announced the new TS55 and TS75 series square subs at the last CES. People that were at the CES have said these subwoofers hit very hard. MTX does claim that they has fixed the major problem with square subs, buckling at the corners. MTX has a patented new design “that eliminates surround corner overextension thus increasing linear excursions and overall output.” The TS55 and TS75 both come in a 10″ and 12″ sizes and you have the choice of dual 2 ohm and 4 ohm setup. I will have more information about these MTX subwoofers as soon as it is available.

Alpine-USA now available in Spanish

Alpine is always keeping up with the times. Just recently Alpine-USA have updated there website for the Spanish community. Not just a little bit of the website is in Spanish the entire website is. This is great news for the Spanish speaking community. You can now read all the product name features and do product comparison all in Spanish. Alpine also has it set up so that all the information about the alpine custom car audio cars is in Spanish. This will be a great time to sit back and wait to see how many other car audio websites will follow suit with the change that alpine has made. MTX Rides Post Pictures Of Your Own MTX Ride

In August 2006 MTX introduces MTX Rides. I love this site especially now that it has such a vast selection of modified car in it now. One of the best features of the site is that it gives you the ability to to search for vehicles by year, make and model. So if you are curious about what to do with your car or truck this could give you some ideas of what other people have done with the same vehicle. Don’t copy anyone just get some good ideas of what your car or truck can hold. And the best part is once your custom car audio setup is complete you can come back here and start your own vehicle’s profile. Just remember will have to have MTX car audio equipment in your ride to get listed

MTX also has 13 of their own rides listed on this site for you to look at. A couple of my favorite rides are the Jackhammer Escalade, which happens to have 2 MTX Jackhammers in it, and the Ford Ranger FX4. Go check out the site for your self and post some of your own vehicle’s pictures.
