JBL GT5-12 Subwoofer Review

Yesterday we looked at the JBL GT5-10.  Now we are going to look at the next step up, the JBL GT5-12.   The GT5-12 is a single voice coil 12 inch subwoofer and has a impedance of 4 ohms.  The RMS power handling is 275W and peaks at 1100W.  If you were looking the 10 inch and was thinking up stepping up to the 12 inch because it would handle more power, this is not the with the GT%-12.  The frequency response 23 – 450 Hz, which is lower than the 10 inch so keep that in mind. The subwoofer is also not recommend for a sealed box and does work very well in a ported or vented subwoofer box.  The GT5-12 has a MSRP of  $119.95. The GT5-12D is the dual voice coil version of this subwoofer.

JBL GT5-10 Subwoofer Review

The JBL GT5 10 inch single voice coil subwoofer is a really nice in my opinion.  The sub has a very nice look to it and has 2 large magnets that are covered buy a rubber ring .  The GT5-10 offers great sound quality as always expected out of JBL subwoofers.  This sub has a peak power handling of 1100W.  Remember the difference between peak and RMS handling., because the RMS is only 275W.  Keep in mind when wiring this subwoofer this it has a impedance of 4 ohms.  The mounting depth is 5-5/16 inches.   MSRP is $119.99.  The JBL GT5-10D is the dual voice coil version of this subwoofer.

Alpine MRP-M2000 Amplifier Review

Alpine MRP M2000The Alpine MRP M2000 is the most powerful Alpine amp ever made and boy is it nice.  If the M500 and M1000 are not good enough for you then this is a serious amp that you need to look at.  The MRP M2000 has the same style as the other Alpine MRP amps but it is much larger, so if space is a issue this might be something to keep in mind.  The MRP M2000 has a MSRP of $750.00.  Now we do have 2 wiring options to look at depending how much power you need and how our subwoofers are set up, at 4 ohms you have 1500W and at 2 ohms you have 2000W.

A New Look For The Site In 2010

My car stereo website has been on the internet for many years and the look has never changed.  Last night I spent a few hours giving the site a completely new look.  I wanted to give the site as cleaner look that was easier to look at and navigate.  Let me know what you think of the new look.

Alpine MRP-M1000 Amplifier Review

Alpine MRP-M1000 ampThe Alpine MRP-M1000 is the big brother of the MRP-M500.  So if you like it but thought you needed more power the MRP-M1000 might be perfect for you.   This car amp offers the large heat sinks for great cooling and power delivery like the other MRP amps by Alpine. The MRP-M1000 has a couple of wiring options.  We can go 4 ohm and get 600W or if you need the full 1000W you have the 2 ohm option.  With a MSRP of only $450.00 this could be a great deal for someone who’s subwoofers need some real power.
